The spondylo-epi-metaphyseal dysplasias (SEMD) are a heterogeneous group of disorders
comprising more than 20 distinct entities with differing modes of inheritance, all defined by
the combination of vertebral, epiphyseal and metaphyseal abnormalities. The presenting
